Vickers hardness and Rockwell hardness are two commonly used hardness testing methods and are two common methods for testing the hardness of cemented carbide. The difference between them lies in the indenter and load used during hardness testing.
Vickers hardness testing uses a diamond cone indenter and the load is usually between 6 kg and 120 kg. This test method is suitable for measuring the hardness of metallic and non-metallic materials.
The Rockwell hardness test uses a spherical indenter, and the load is usually between 1 kg and 150 kg. This testing method is suitable for measuring the hardness of metals, plastics, rubber, and other materials.
For the Vickers hardness test, the detection method includes inserting a diamond cone indenter into the surface of the material being tested and calculating the hardness value based on the diameter of the impression produced by the indenter. The Rockwell hardness test calculates the hardness value by applying a certain load on the surface of the material being tested and measuring the diameter of the resulting indentation.
